Hansen-Mueller Co., a longtime Omaha-based grain trading and storage company, has been listed in a national bankruptcy alert as having filed for Chapter 11 reorganization November 17, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nebraska. While the filing appears under case number 25-81226 in DailyDAC’s Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Alert System, the petition has not yet been confirmed through official court dockets or government records.

The Chapter 11 listing follows months of financial turbulence for Hansen-Mueller, which recently faced regulatory action over unpaid grain deliveries to producers across several Midwestern states. The Nebraska Public Service Commission suspended the company’s grain-dealer license on October 24 after finding that it owed roughly $2 million to 38 farmers. After weeks of negotiations, the license was reinstated on November 13 when the company agreed to pay more than $2.1 million in restitution to producers and settle remaining obligations by February 2026.

Industry sources and local reports indicate that Hansen-Mueller’s payment troubles extend beyond Nebraska. Regulators in North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota launched investigations this fall into claims of missed payments, while producers in Texas told DTN earlier this month that they remain unpaid for grain delivered weeks ago.

The potential bankruptcy marks another twist in what has been a turbulent harvest season for Midwest grain producers, some of whom were already coping with market volatility and weather-related delays. For affected farmers, the uncertainty surrounding Hansen-Mueller’s financial stability raises new concerns about how and when they might be paid.

Until official court records are posted, the DailyDAC notice remains the only public indication of a Chapter 11 case for Hansen-Mueller. If verified, the filing would allow the company to restructure its debts while maintaining operations under court supervision.
